Do you qualify for disabled widow’s benefits?

You may be eligible for Disabled Widow’s benefits if you are the widow/widower of an eligible worker. To be eligible, you must meet the requirements:

1. Are you at least 56 years old?
2. Are you disabled under Social Security’s rules?
3. Were you married at the time of your spouse’s death, or if divorced, were you married for at least 10 years prior to your spouse’s death?
4. Did you become disabled prior to or within 7 years of the death of your spouse?
5. Are you still single?
